Hello seekers! It’s been almost 2 years since the last post, and since I usually post here at least when there is new music released, thought I might give an update on what I’ve been up to in these times.
So let’s start chronologically..
NääsTek and Näws zine
2 years ago a new free party crew, NääsTek, was formed in Tampere, developing the local free party / free tekno / Teknival scene further in Finland. I joined the crew in its starting phase as “a telepathist” and consultant. As I’m also busy with other projects, I help them more from the background, physically at some parties and with occasional DJ sets. Last year NääsTek launched a (mostly Finnish-language) zine called Näws with more and less serious content about the local scene. So far I’ve contributed to the zine with some record reviews and a historical article on free tekno parties in Tampere.
Special Zutsuu set at Neonya
At the end of April I did a special comeback set as Zutsuu (頭痛) at a Neonya Party in Helsinki. Neonya has been pushing the j-core scene in Finland to new dimensions in recent years. Played a couple of older anime-themed classic Zutsuu tracks and early otakuspeedvibe style and other oldschool Japanese hardcore tracks. The set was a lot of fun to play and someone from the crowd even requested extratone! Well, I hope I reached at least 1000 bpm towards the end! ^^; I might revisit the alias occasionally for this kind of set in the future.
Avaruusveli -> Avaruussetä, 20 years of Kovaydin.NET and Junkie Kut collab
Earlier this year I became the uncle of a little girl, and in early June I celebrated my 40th birthday. That’s why I felt it was time my DJ name Avaruusveli (=space brother in Finnish) metamorphosed into Avaruussetä (=space uncle in Finnish). We also celebrated 20 years of Kovaydin.NET on the first weekend of June in Tampere, and I played a special bday set with my tracks from various projects from Zutsuu to Teknojta.
At the party, Junkie Kut and I also premiered our collab song We Are Eternal, which I’m planning for a future album release. More on that later once there is a clearer picture..
New track Aromilöyly featuring voi_kukka released on Kovaydin.NET 20v – 20 Years of Suomicore compilation [KOVAWEB20]
On the Friday after the party, we released a new compilation Kovaydin.NET 20v – 20 Years of Suomicore with 17 fresh tracks from the Finnish *core underground.
Included is my latest Teknojta track Aromilöyly (also premiered at the anniversary!), featuring voi_kukka on the outro rhythms and improvised noisebox jam. This is a deeply personal track, born from memories of the happiest time in my life, and shaped by a sincere future wish—holding space for the possibility of renewed and multiplied happiness, clarity, connection, and an invitation for one to a special place in my ancestral grounds.
